Pamela Peele, Ph.D., is the Chief Analytics Officer of the UPMC Insurance Services Division. She has an earned PhD in economics from Virginia Tech. She brings 13 years of patient care experience and 12 years of academic research experience to her position as the leader of healthcare analytics. She is responsible for data analytic activities, economic modeling, predictive modeling, and machine learning. She was the first person highlighted in IBM’s Big Data and Analytics Hero profiles and was voted 2014 IT News Men & Women of the Year as a top innovator in health careSchool of Public Health. She serves on the Editorial Board for the journal Psychiatric Services. She retains her faculty appointments as Associate Professor of Health Policy & Management and in Psychiatry at the University. She is a core Faculty member at the Center for Research on Health Care in the School of Medicine at the University and an elected research fellow of the Centre for Interuniversity Research and Analysis on Organizations in Montreal, Canada. She has a BA in economics from Roanoke College in Salem, Va., and an MA and a PhD in economics from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
